The Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations Code (ANZSCO) for architects is 232111.
Job titles and exact tasks vary in this work and examples of some occupation titles are architect, project architect, industrial and commercial buildings architect and residential architect.
This occupation is currently on the Australian Combined Skilled Occupation List (Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List, MLTSSL).
The average weekly full-time ordinary earnings in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services in mid 2018 were $1,840, giving an annual income of approximately $95,680. This was almost unchanged compared to mid 2017.*
The Association of Consulting Architects Australia’s (ACA) 2017 salary survey found that the average graduate (up to 2 years’ experience) salary was $55,996. For registered architects with up to six years’ experience, the average salary was $81,922.
The survey also stated that Associates earned on average $101,793, while principal/ directors earned $123,781 in 2017.
