Australian full-time wages in the first quarter of 2010 have increased 5.9 percent compared with the same time last year.
Full-time adult earnings in Australia are now A$64,594 a year.
Overtime and bonuses bring the average Australian pay to A$67,070 per annum. (Up 5.6 percent compared with last year.)
The average full-time male wage in Australia is A$1,397 per week, while full-time women average A$1,106 per week.
Australia’s best-paid workers are those in the mining industry, where ordinary full-time earnings (excluding overtime and bonuses) average A$1,982.90 a week.
Next in the wages pecking order are Professional, Scientific and Technical Services workers who average A$1,495, Information Media & Telecommunications on A$1,481 and Financial and Insurance Services workers who average A$1,471 a week.
Manufacturing sector employees earn an average of $1,121 a week and construction sector workers earn $1,266 a week.
Full-time workers in the retail sector earn A$937 a week on average.
The lowest wages are found in the accommodation, restaurant and cafe sector where full-time workers earn just A$890 a week on average.
Workers in the Capital Territory (Canberra) are Australia’s highest paid workers with ordinary earnings averaging A$75,348 per annum, followed by Western Australia (A$70,210) and New South Wales (A$65,707).
Tasmania has Australia’s lowest average full-time wage, of A$55,130 per annum.
