I've just been to Bateman's Bay for the first time in my life and it is gorgeous. What a lovely coastal town. It is a small sized town with friendly people, enthusiastic youths and has an old fashioned feel to it. I also noticed it was a clean and tidy town, but the most outstanding trait was the friendliness of the locals. Has anyone else been to Bateman's Bay or another NSW coastal village? I'd like to compare notes. thanx

Hi Martha,
Glad you had a good time there. I've not visited the town myself but have also heard that it's very unspoilt and beautiful. It's the closest beach town to Canberra so it's a popular holiday spot. Bateman's Bay is a bit too far for me from Melbourne at the moment but I will add it to my list of places I would like to see. |

There is lots of very nice coastal towns in NSW.
I grew up in a town called Forster which is about 4 hours drive north of Sydney. |

I've been to Forster only once. I think if I remember it well enough, it was a very open spacious township with wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean. The water was clear and sparkling on a hot summer's day, very inviting. When I was in Florida we swam in the Atlantic and it was like bathwater, so warm at all times. It must be a shock for some people when they walk into our ocean for the first time.
