Hello,
I have often thought about working in real state but have never done anything about it. What do you do to become a real estate agent in Australia - really in particular in Perth which is where we hope to settle. What is the average wage and are you based solely on your sales or is there a basic salary?
Also we want to be homeowners when we (eventually) arrive in Perth. I am curious to know how much commission estate agents receive when we buy a property there. Is the amount quite variable depending on the estate agent? I would be grateful if anyone knows this,
Thanks Kelly.

Try http://www.reiwalearning.com.au/ for info about training and jobs. The money you earn depends on the commission you get.

Australian Real estate agent fees are linked to property prices and they are usually charged as a percentage of the total selling price. I would expect a rate of around 2.5%, so on a property worth $400,000, the estate agent would get $10,000.

It's the seller who pays this fee not the buyer.:)

I couldn't agree more. Shop around as commission charged is very variable and you could save yourself a fortune.
