Hi,
I enjoyed some red Australian wine over the Christmas period. I really like the Hardy label and I was lucky because it was on special offer. The Bin 53 was £3.99 (normally £7.99) a bottle and the Crest was £5.99 (normally £9.99). How much does it cost for a bottle of Australian wine in Australia?

Hello Scotty,
You know it really depends on the brand. We have our cheap wines -the cheapest being cask wine at around $13 for 4 litres. We love our wines and have a huge variety of bottled wines including Hardy's R&R Rose and Classic Cuvee Pink which retail for $9.95 per bottle. All prices have recently gone up because of the GFC (global financial crisis).
But it still tastes good.
There are some liquor barns which offer cheapest prices so it depends on where you shop as well, but most cities and towns will have at least one bargain store for grog.
Happy shopping,
Martha

You can buy a bottle of wine for less than $5.00 and Hardy's wines start at around $10.00. I don't know what tax is on alcohol compared to other countries, but I would say that the price of wine is cheaper in Australia than in the UK.

We only have a bottle of wine occassionaly but I do like a drop of fruity Aussie red, Merlots. We pick them up when they're on sale for £3.99. At 13 - 14% alcohol, they're a lot stronger than the white wine's we used to drink. Since we don't drink often, a shared bottle of red has us both pretty tipsy. :o

Hi, Dan Murphys and 1st Choice (australia wide) are great for selling wine at discounted prices. Also supermarkets have their weekly specials. You can get lots of good wines for under $10 (starting at about $6). Also if you buy in lots of 6 you get a discount.

That's right! Supermarkets have a higher mark up on alcohol than the larger grog shops. Definitely need to find a Dan Murpheys or the like.

Hi there,
As a couple of posters already mentioned, it depends on the brand and where you buy it.
There are high end stores where wine is quite expensive, or there are stores such as Dan Murphys where they offer cheaper prices.
Wine starts from around $5 and can go up to around $40 - $50.
You can get a good Australian wine for around $10.
