Wide Fitting Shoes

I know I've asked this question before somewhere but I'm really keen to find out if there is anywhere in Australia that caters for ladies with larger feet and / or wide fitting shoes. My feet have always been on the wide side and I often end up buying a larger size just to get the width right. In the UK wider fittings are becoming easier to find with Marks and Spencers and BHS having their own wide fitting brands.
Does anyone know of Australian show shops that sell wide fitting shoes. I tend to need good quality shoes to help support my arches.
Thanks for any help.
Kelly.

I have the same problem - I end up buying a size bigger than I really need to just to get the width right. Otherwise it can be a painful week or so until I have 'walked them in'. I'm sure that I will end up with huge bunions when I'm older!!
In Melbourne I occasionally go to http://petersheppard.com.au and they have shoes in width fittings. They also have online ordering. Shoes are expensive though.

Any of the major carriers should carry wide-foot shows, or at least can order them for you as the major shoe companies- Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc. all make wide shoes for many of their styles. You can always check online too...

Hi,
In Adelaide http://www.angelsshoes.com.au, 4th Floor, 51 Rundle Mall caters for mens and ladies wide feet. They also accept online orders. Angels Shoes stock major brands like Kumfs and Hush Puppies. You can get a pair of shoes there for around $80 - $100 in the sales.

You sound like my mum. She has always had trouble with getting the perfect fit and swears by the Homeped brand. They have wide shoes and support for arches, are comfortable and stylish. Sold at most Soul Patterson pharmacies, and other chemists.

I have wide fit feet too and I've been a bit worried about a limited choice of shoe widths in Australia. I've seen people talking about buying shoes by mail order but I don't like the idea of buying shoes without trying them on first and having a good walk around the shop to make sure they're comfortable. You're right about training shoes Bastiat. It always seems to be easier getting width fittings for them. It seems to be a lot harder for normal shoes.

You can always find them online though- but I do see the point with walking around the store. I usually do walk around and all that good stuff, but the last pair of shoes I bought was online and it was the first time I got them over the net. Turns out they are really great and I haven't even bought another pair for a couple of years just because I like them so much that I feel I don't need another pair. In my experience, buying shoes online was good.

Take a look at "The Athletes foot" while I don't know if they have really wide fitting shoes they do have a wide range and have quite good value for money.

Thanks for all your lovely replies. All your answers have eased my worries and I know now I'll have plenty of choice. I buy shoes online from time to time, but I prefer to try shoes on as not all styles suit my feet and it can be difficult to tell by looking at a picture what fits and what doesn't. Our destination is Perth - hopefully sometime this year - so if anyone any info about a ladies shoe shop there I would be really grateful.
Thanks Kelly.

I know of a couple of shoe shops in Perth that look suitable:
http://www.johnsshoestore.com.au/ in Midland (about 30 mins drive east of Perth). It's a huge shop and stocks shoes that have width fittings such as Hush Puppies.
http://www.perthshoemaker.com.au/ in Wembly, Perth. They have width fitting shoes and also make shoes to order.

Sorry Pam, I missed your reply earlier - I was in too much of a hurry!! Thanks loads, I appreciate you taking the time to find the info for me.:) http://www.perthshoemaker.com.au/ looks the better starting point for me as it is in a more central location. Thanks once again for your help,
Kelly.
