I've had a couple of books from the Book Depository which, although they were obviously new, had a dirty mark or two on the outside of the pages. This has made me lose some confidence in them and, although I'll still use them for books I'm buying for myself, if I'm giving someone a book as a present, I buy it locally.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed, Thongs. I know what you mean, some books do have bad smudges on them even though they are being sold as new. Makes you wonder where they are being stored.
