Hi all,

Looking for some more information on prices does anyone know how much it costs to insure a car in Brisbane? I know that there is compulsory insurance and you can also choose comprehensive if you want. For someone with full no claims does anyone have a round about figure for the costs for each?

Thanks

Compulsory third party is $347 fora car / station wagon:

"Based on the information you have provided, the following CTP Premiums apply for Vehicle Class 1, without Input Tax Credit Entitlement (non-ITCE ), 12 Months cover and with a due date 31 December 2009 to 30 March 2010

NRMA Insurance: $347.00
AAMI: $347.00
QBE: $347.00
SUNCORP:$347.00
RACQ Insurance: $347.00
ALLIANZ: $347.00

While every effort is taken to ensure accuracy of these rates, you should confirm the price with the insurer. When choosing your insurer, price may only be one factor you consider. Insurers may offer some add-on products or incentives with CTP insurance. You will need to contact individual insurers to obtain information on their respective CTP product.

Please note:
These amounts include CTP Scheme levies and fee and GST."

Comprehensive insurance will depend on your personal details. Try AAMI http://www.aami.com.au/insurance-quotes/insurance-quote.aspx, they give quotes online. I'm paying around $600 for comprehensive for a 2007 family hatchback car.

The comprehensive insurance premium will depend on the age of the car, your age, the make and model of the car, no claims bonus and so on.

Those coming from the UK find that fully comp car insurance is cheaper in AUS compared to what they are used to. I'm currently paying around $650 in Melbourne for fully comprehensive, full no claims bonus for a Totota Camry.

I can recommend a comparison site for you to use. http://www.ratecity.com.au/car-insurance. Just enter your details as best you can and you can get quotes.

BudgetDirect are usually very competitive.
