Hi,
Can anyone advise how to go about getting a plumber's licence for Queensland? I have uk certificates and plenty of experience but I have heard that you need to have a licence for trade work. How easy is it to get it?

Hi,
As well as a valid visa you will need to have your skills assessed to make sure that uou have the work experience and certificates to get an Aus license. Vetassess can do this for you http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_australia/ts_assessment_process.cfm

Also here's some info from the Queensland plumbing and Drainage board:
HOW DO I APPLY FOR A
PLUMBERS OR DRAINERS LICENCE?
An application for a Plumbers or Drainers Licence must:
(1) be made to the Plumbers and Drainers Board;
(2) be in the approved form:
“Application for a Plumbers or Drainers
Licence" (Form 21);
(3) be accompanied by:
(a) satisfactory evidence of your relevant
practical experience and qualifications;
(b) the fee set under the PDR;
(c) any other documents that the approved form
requires; and
(d) if you are licensed by an interstate or the
New Zealand licensing authority, written
details of any conditions of your licence.
WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO
ATTACH WITH MY APPLICATION?
With each application you are required to provide
satisfactory evidence of your relevant practical
experience and qualifications. This information will
need to be verified by an authorised person and
attached with a “Proof of Identity and Document
Declaration Form” (Form 27). This form is also
required if you do not hold a Queensland Plumbers
or Drainers Licence or the photograph on your
licence does not resemble your current true likeness.
The relevant documentation for each licence type
has been outlined in the fact sheet, “Plumbers and
Drainers Licences”.
What if I am from a country other than Australia or
New Zealand?
If you are from overseas and you possess
qualifications and practical experience recognised
by the Australian and New Zealand Reciprocity
Association (ANZRA) Agreement, you will be
eligible to apply for a provisional licence in
Queensland.
You will need to provide to the Board certified copies
of your qualifications and experience, together with:
• a completed “Application for a Licence” (Form 21);
and
• a completed “Proof of Identity and Document
Declaration Form” (Form 27).
To obtain a full plumbers and/or drainers licence in
Queensland you will need to complete relevant
modules of the Plumbers and/or Drainers Course to
prove your competencies are equivalent to an
independent licence.
