Have a look at internode and iinet pricing and that will give you an idea of how much internet costs - it's not cheap in Aus. Prices depend on usage in Aus - so you will not get an unlimited plan but you can get very high GB plans.

Basic plans typically start at around $40 a month. Large GB plans will be around $130 a month for fast internet (ADSL 2+).

thanks guys. i appreciate you digging that stuff out for me even though it looks a bit disappointing. dodos 100GB looks like its only for offpeak hours. i was hoping i'd find something like bethere (https://www.bethere.co.uk/) where you pay £21.50 (less than $40) a month for unlimited usage and high speed. i'm getting over 20 megs a sec here. i can't get cable where i live but bethere's great. would i be better going for cable in australia?

Hi Sharpy,

All ISP's have data usage allowances even cable ones. Bigpond has cable and their largest date package is 60 GB at $129.95 a month. http://broadbandguide.com.au/bigpond/plan/487-3446-cable-extreme%C2%AE-up-to-30mbps/1mbps-60gb

If you only need 500MBa month, virgin mobile has a no contract broadband for $15.00 a month, increasing to $30.00 a month for 1GB.

haahahaha unlimited internet in Australia, O you crack me up. Also you will not find cable any where but capital city's. I would suggest you have a look at TPG. I have never had a drop out though so reliability is good don't expect to be able to find a cable connection to easily you might have to settle for ADSL2. If you go anywhere regional you will have to get ADSL1, or if your unlucky satellite or wireless broadband might be your only option.

IINET and TPG has great competitive pricing... I am with IINET at the moment and planning to switch with TPG as its cheaper...

With our experience with IINET for the last 4 years is pretty good especially customer service is thumbs up...

I am gonna try TPG since they have plans that doesnt require any contract so if I am not happy then I'll switch back to IINET....

You can either go for ADSL2 or Naked DSL depending in your area...

:)
