Hi,
We are thinking about moving to Queensland, Australia, and I am an experienced HGV driver. Does anyone knows how easy it is to get HGV jobs in Australia and if I will need to sit new tests or is my UK license valid?
Thanks.

You will need to get a Queensland license. You will be allowed a car driving license based on your UK driving license but not heavy goods. Queensland transport has info on the types of license and the fees http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licensing/Driver_licence/Getting_a_licence/Heavy_vehicle/Licence_classes_and_codes/ and http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licensing/Driver_licence/Getting_a_licence/Heavy_vehicle/Licence_fees

You could try contacting haulage firms direct and see if they are recruiting....

Hi,
I take it you have your residence/visa sorted out already as truck drivers are not on the critical skills list or is an occupation in demand at the moment.

Yes I know. My wife is a nurse and is the main applicant. I would still like to drive for a living once we are in Aus.
