Hi everyone.

We're moving to Australia at the end of the year and have enjoyed reading all of your comments. We don't have many belongings to bring. We're wondering if instead of waiting weeks for a container to shift our stuff by sea, we should send our stuff by air freight. Hopefully it will arrive when we arrive.

Has anyone sent their belongings this way and how much did it cost for what sort of amount of stuff? Were there any drawbacks?

As a starting point I would have a look at somewhere like excess baggage (http://www.excess-baggage.com/). Their website is quite good at giving you a rough idea of how much it will cost you to use air freight.

I've not used them myself though.

Seven Seas http://www.sevenseasworldwide.com ship by sea and air. They give online quotes.

We used them to move a few boxes by sea and everything arrived intact. At the time their prices were competitive so I'd give them a try.

Yes, our neighbours moved to Adelaide in October last year. They freighted using sevenseas and tell me all went well. They recommended them to us, if we ever manage to make the move ourselves.
