Australia’s unemployment has fallen to its lowest rate since records began (in 1978).
May’s figure – a seasonally adjusted 4.9 percent – resulted from Australia’s economy adding 56,000 new jobs in May. Nearly all of the jobs were full-time.
New South Wales was the powerhouse of the expansion, with 47,000 of Australia’s new jobs located there.

Australia's Job Market Weakening?
The total number of job ads in Australia fell by 1.5 percent in May to average 177,313 per week. The trend rate of growth of job ads continued to slow, to a monthly increase of only 0.7 percent, according to the ANZ Bank.
